Science head serves as judge at international science fair

Columbus, IN – IUPUC faculty member Jim Clack, Ph.D., recently participated as a judge at the 2009 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.

The event showcased the work of more than 1,500 exceptional high-school science students from more than 50 countries. The students competed for nearly $4 million in scholarships and prizes. The Intel Young Scientist Scholarship, the top prize, included a $50,000 college scholarship.

The nearly 1,200 volunteers judged projects in 18 categories including animal sciences, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, engineering, microbiology and physics and astronomy.

Clack will serve as a co-chair of the biochemistry category at the 2010 fair.

Clack is an associate professor of Biology and head of the Division of Science at IUPUC.
