IUPUC would like to announce the 2009-2010 recipients of donor-funded scholarships. In total the school is awarding $9,500 in donor-funded scholarships for the upcoming academic year.
The following is a list of the scholarships and recipients:
The Glenn Klipsch Memorial Scholarship was established by IUPUC alumnus Paul Ashbrook in memory of former Hope resident Glenn Klipsch. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a full-time, degree-seeking student with a GPA of 3.0 or better. The student must also complete some form of volunteer work during each semester. The 2009-2010 recipient is Brittani Fixmer, a junior from Greensburg.
The EMCON Technologies LLC Scholarship was established by EMCON Technologies to support engineering or science students who wish to build their success in south central Indiana. Two scholarships of $1,000 each were awarded. The 2009-2010 recipients are Melanie Jackson, a sophomore from Morgantown, and Erin McNulty, a junior from Elizabethtown.
The Kristen Schildmier Scholarship was established by Kenneth and Phyllis DeLap in honor of their granddaughter Kristen Schildmier who was a member of the IUPUC class of 2006. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree who is also working part- or full-time. Senior Susan Forister, from Columbus, is the 2009-2010 recipient.
The Zonta Club Scholarship was established by the Zonta Club of Columbus to support women pursuing a bachelor’s degree at IUPUC. The $500 scholarship will be awarded to a female student who is a resident of Bartholomew County with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Recipients must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours. Sophomore Leah Boas, from Columbus, is the 2009-2010 recipient.
The Marvin Rytting Scholarship was established by alumni and friends of IUPUC in honor of Marvin Rytting, who served IUPUC for 28 years as a faculty member in psychology. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a psychology major who has earned 75 or more credit hours toward graduation. Lisa Spaulding, a senior from Brownstown, is the 2009-2010 recipient.
The IUPUC Alumni Association Scholarship was established by the IUPUC Alumni Association to provide additional scholarship opportunities for nontraditional and continuing students. The scholarship is awarded to nontraditional or continuing, degree-seeking students enrolled in at least six credit hours at IUPUC and who have completed a minimum of nine credit hours. The 2009-2010 recipients are: Kelsi Boas, senior from Columbus; Tammy Burton, junior from Edinburgh; Kathy Campbell, senior from Columbus; Beverly Carmichael, sophomore from Columbus; Charity Herr, senior from North Vernon; Bryan McCullough, senior from Westport; Dustin O’Neal, junior from Seymour; Ruanda Lee Quay, senior from Columbus; Stephanie Schroeder, senior from Waldron.
The CAAIFA Scholarship was established by the Columbus Area Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors to support south central Indiana students furthering their education in business. The $1,500 scholarship is awarded to graduating high school seniors or current IUPUC students who are residents of Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson or Shelby counties. Applicants must be admitted into a Bachelor of Science program in business and be enrolled at least part time. Junior Dustin O’Neal, from Seymour, is the 2009-2010 recipient.
