IUPUC Faculty Colloquium series

September 15, 2009

IUPUC faculty member Gary Felsten, Ph.D., will lead a public lecture on restorative environments on Friday, September 18, at IUPUC.

The lecture “Restoration2: studying restorative environments in a restorative environment,” will begin at noon in Room CC176 (MBA/Executive Education suite). The event is free and open to the public.

Restorative environments are settings that promote recovery from stress and mental fatigue and contribute to better physical, mental, and psychological functioning.

“My lecture will describe my latest research and explain how my sabbatical at Cornell University in spring 2008 helped me gain expertise in this area of study while reinvigorating my research program and myself,” Felsten said.

Felsten is the coordinator of the psychology program and associate professor of psychology for the Division of Science at IUPUC.

The lecture is part of the IUPUC Faculty Colloquium Series. Tentative dates and topics for future lectures include “Revisiting Local Government Structure in Indiana” Oct. 16, “Novels, Symmetry, and Memory: from Marcel Proust to Toni Morrison” Nov. 20, “A Brief History of Life Sciences-Holiday Edition” Dec. 18, “Division and The Chinese Remainder Theorem” Jan. 15, “Why Personality Matters: Broad Personality Traits and Important Life Outcomes” April 16, and “Revolution of the (Feminist) Word: Identity and Textual Politics in Modernist Representations of Gender” May 14.
