Professor presents case study
IUPUC faculty member Thomas Clerkin, Ph.D., presented a paper at the October 2009 Midwest Academy of Management 52nd Annual Meeting in Chicago, Ill.
His paper, “Designing and Organizational Philosophy: A Case Study,” was recommend to be included in the Conference Proceedings.
“This case study describes the efforts of a real Midwestern small-cap manufacturing company to develop an articulated organizational philosophy statement to serve as the focus for a major organizational development change effort,” Clerkin said. “It reviews the historical background that set the stage for the effort, previous success with change efforts, and the theoretical principles that served as its underpinning.”
The case is intended primarily for undergraduate business students in a capstone management course as well as MBA students studying strategic management to evaluate a major organizational change effort.
Clerkin is an assistant professor of business in the Division of Business at IUPUC.
