Business head named 'Oustanding Woman Leader'

March 12, 2010

IUPUC faculty member Georgia Miller, Ed.D., was named a 2010 Outstanding Woman Leader and selected as a Full-time Faculty “Veteran” winner for IUPUI’s 2010 Women’s History Month Leadership Awards.

Miller will be presented with the awards at the Women’s History Month Leadership Reception on Tuesday, March 30, at IUPUI.

The event, sponsored by the Office for Women and Campus & Community Life, celebrates women faculty and staff who have been outstanding leaders in their department or schools or who have demonstrated significant leadership at the campus, regional, national, and/or international level.

The awards seek to celebrate women faculty and staff members who lead through exemplary action, initiative, guidance, achievement, generosity, commitment and service.

In addition to the student, staff and faculty awards, a panel of IUPUI women campus leaders will discuss their work and role at IUPUI and a new online exhibit, “Women Creating Excellence at IUPUI” will be announced.

Miller, head of the Division of Business and clinical associate professor of management, came to IUPUC in 2001 to develop the undergraduate business and MBA degree programs. In 1976, she was hired as one of only three women in the Indiana University Division of Business on tenure track. She was selected as the Dean of the Division of Business at IUPUI in 1980, and in 1994 she was named the Executive Director of Information Technology at IUPUI.

Miller is a clinical associate professor of management, head of the Division of Business, and executive director of Executive Education at IUPUC.
