CTL Director serves as guest editor

Darrin Sorrells, Ph.D., Director of the Columbus Center for Teaching and Learning, recently served as Guest Editor for the Spring 2010 edition of the Journal for the Liberal Arts and Sciences.

In addition to contributing to the editorial process, Sorrells also provided comments as the guest editor which appear at the front of the publication.

The Journal for Liberal Arts and Sciences is an editorial-board-reviewed journal which offers a forum for academic discourse regarding theories and issues in the arts, the sciences, and education.

Article topics in the Spring 2010 edition include instructional methods for teaching, use of Internet-based education, effects of summer vacation, and more. Contributing writers represent Murray State University, University of Toledo, University of Central Florida, St. Louis University, Tarleton State University, Oakland City University, and Indiana Wesleyan University.

JLAS is published three times each academic year (fall, spring, and summer) by Oakland City University.

Sorrells also was selected to serve as a peer reviewer for the Academic Quality Improvement Program of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Sorrells will serve as a reviewer/consultant evaluator for both types of HLC-NCA institutional accreditation: AQIP and the Program to Evaluate and Advance Quality.
