CTL to host AP teachers from across the country

June 11, 2010

The Center for Teaching and Learning will host high school Advanced Placement teachers from across the country in June and July.

AP Summer Institute classes are intended to prepare AP teachers to meet the demands of AP curriculum and improve overall classroom instruction.

Each class involves more than 30 hours of intense instruction, led by endorsed College Board consultants. This year’s consultants represent Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Hinsdale Central Township High School in Hinsdale, Ill., Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill., Butler University in Indianapolis, Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Ill., Columbus East High School, and College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Ill.

Classes include AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, AP English Language and Composition, AP Human Geography, AP Psychology, AP Statistics, and AP U.S. History.

Over the past five years, high school teachers from more than 15 states have attended the Center for Teaching & Learning Summer Institute. In 2009, the Indiana Department of Education identified the CTL as one of Indiana’s best models.

The CTL collaborates with the College Board to deliver the Institute.
