Kids ROBOColumbus Camp set for August

June 21, 2010

IUPUC, Purdue University College of Technology, and the Center for Teaching and Learning will host the Kids ROBOColumbus Camp Aug. 3 through 6 at IUPUC.

ROBOColumbus Camp is designed for children in grades 3 through 8. The purpose is to excite students about math, science, engineering, technology and teamwork using robotics.

Joe Fuehne, Ph.D. and associate professor of mechanical engineering technology for Purdue University College of Technology-Columbus, will lead the sessions.

The morning camp sessions, 9 a.m. to noon, are designed for beginners, or those who have little to no experience with Robotics. These campers will learn how to build a LEGO™ Robot, how to attach light and touch sensors to the Robot, and how to control its movement with a program that uses information from those sensors.

The afternoon camp sessions, 1 to 4 p.m., are for the more experienced camper, who has either attended the camp previously, or is a member of a F.I.R.S.T. Lego League team.

The cost is $50 per camper. Applications are available at www.columbusctl.com. Registration is required by July 23.
