Science head, former student present

June 29, 2010

IUPUC faculty member James Clack, Ph.D., and former IUPUC student Drew Hundley co-presented with IUPUI professor Teri Belecky-Adams, Ph.D., at the 45th Annual Meeting of the Lake Cumberland Biological Transport Group June 20 through 23 in Jamestown, Ky.

The presentation was entitled, “Light-Induced Protein Translocation in Vertebrate Photoreceptors: Implications for Phototransduction and Adaptation.” It was the culmination of work Hundley did as a part of his independent research project, and was funded by an IUPUI Undergraduate Research Opportunity grant.

At the annual meeting, principal investigators, post-doctoral fellows and graduate students present published data or work in progress and receive feedback. The central theme of the meeting is biotransport, but presentations also focus on cell biology/physiology, molecular biology, and biochemistry.

Clack is an associate professor of Biology and head of the Division of Science at IUPUC. Hundley is a 2009 graduate of IUPUI, and is currently a research student pursuing a master’s degree in biology. Belecky-Adams is an assistant professor of biology for the Department of Biology at the IUPUI School of Science.
