Alumni Association to host film screening

August 31, 2010

The IUPUC Alumni Association will show the film “After Silence” at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15, in the Learning Center Lecture Hall.

“After Silence” examines the treatment of Japanese-Americans during WWII and poses the question “What does it mean to be an American in a time of uncertainty and fear.” The film portrays the experiences of Frank Kitamoto, who was denied American citizenship 60 years ago.

The screening will be followed by a discussion facilitated by IUPUC History Lecturer Douglas Gardner, Ph.D.

The purpose of the IUPUC Alumni Association Film Series is to raise awareness of and encourage discussion about a variety of social issues. IUPUC, as a part of the system of higher education in the Columbus community, is pleased to offer this program through its growing Alumni Association.

The event is free and open to the public. Reservations are recommended by calling 812-314-8632 or by sending an e-mail to bjtaulbe@iupuc.edu.
