Reeves Foundation helps create IUPUC STEMporium

September 1, 2010

The Carl Marshall Reeves and Mildred Almen Reeves Foundation recently pledged $100,000 to support the IUPUC Division of Education.
The donation will be used to support a mobile science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) lab.

The lab, which will be called the STEMporium, will travel to schools in the region and will serve as a functioning education lab. IUPUC alumni and Division of Education students will present programs to area students using best practices for STEM.

The STEMporium will function in collaboration with the Indiana Science Technology Engineering Mathematics Resource Network. According to its website (www.istemnetwork.org) I-STEM “works to support K-12 teachers and leaders working to implement high academic standards towards STEM literacy for all students.”

The Reeves Foundation has been a devoted supporter of IUPUC for many years.

“The board recognizes, as Mrs. Reeves did, the long-lasting impact education and arts have on our community by enriching the quality of life for all,” said Mary Ann Nunn, secretary/treasurer of the Reeves Foundation. “Education is a gift that touches many lives.”

IUPUC receives support for higher education initiatives from many generous and forward thinking individuals and organizations.  Please contact Stacy Zearing, Director, Office of Development and External Affairs, to discuss your interest in supporting higher education in our community.
