Free career workshops

IUPUC, Ivy Tech Community College and the Business and Professional Exchange will present a series of career workshops from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, September 10, in the Columbus Learning Center.

The workshops are free and open to the public.

Speakers and topics include:

  • 10 a.m. to noon - “Exploring Your Future – A Guide to What is Out There,” led by Kirk Kuhn, director of training for the STEADconsultants, LLC. Kuhn has more than 20 years of professional experience in a variety of human resource and workforce development programs. 
  • Noon to 1 p.m. – “Reference USA – How to Research That Company,” led by Denise Wirrig, who works for the Bartholomew County Public Library as the Business Services Librarian. She works with individuals and business owners identifying career, marketing, industry and company information utilizing online databases. 
  • 2 to 4 p.m. – “New Tricks for Old Dogs – How to Make that Mid Career Job Change,” led by Patrice Waidner, who has a 20-year management career in manufacturing and information technology with an understanding of general business needs and specific hiring practices.

The business and professional exchange is an independent, not-for-profit educational and networking group.  Founded in 1991, the group has seven Indiana chapters, including one in Columbus.
