Presentation to highlight IUPUC's 40 years of community impact

September 13, 2010

IUPUC faculty member Douglas Gardner, Ph.D., will lead a public lecture on Friday, September 24, in the Learning Center Lecture Hall.

The lecture, “40 Years of Pictures: Toward a History of IUPUC,” will begin at 11:30 a.m.

IUPUC has grown dramatically in its 40-year history. When the doors first opened in 1970, the school employed two full-time staff members and only part-time faculty members. The first students attended classes at the local high school and middle school because an official classroom building had not yet been designated.

Today, the list of IUPUC graduates totals more than 4,500. IUPUC employs 46 full-time faculty members and 194 staff members. In the fall of 2010, student enrollment totaled 1,651.

The lecture is part of the IUPUC Faculty Colloquium Series, which is sponsored by the IUPUC Alumni Association. The event is free and open to the public.

Gardner is a lecturer of history for the Division of Liberal Arts at IUPUC.
