IUPUC's Office of Admissions to host Counselor Appreciation Breakfast
Columbus, IN – The IUPUC Office of Admissions will be hosting IUPUC’s annual Counselor Appreciation Breakfast this Friday, November 19.
“This is an opportunity to show high school counselors our appreciation for the support they give IUPUC. It is also a time to share important information like our new campus initiatives, scholarship opportunities, and updates about our degree programs,” said Susie Blizard, Director of Admissions. Counselors will also have the chance to visit with students they have personally recommended for the Student Ambassador program at IUPUC. Ambassadors will share their stories about why they decided to attend IUPUC and will be answering questions at the student panel.
The 2010 theme for the Appreciation Breakfast is Student Success. Counselors will hear about IUPUC’s new initiatives with freshmen and sophomores to aid with retention efforts. Programs such as “The Bridge” and new campus connections through student involvement will be discussed. Each counselor will also leave with $62,000 worth of scholarships for their eligible high school seniors who are starting their college careers at IUPUC in the fall of 2011.
Approximately 70 counselors will be attending representing 30 high schools in South-Central Indiana. Program presenters will include IUPUC Vice Chancellor and Dean, Dr. Marwan Wafa; Psychology Lecturer in the Division of Science, Kathy Compton; Student Life Coordinator, Kylie Weichman; Financial Aid Coordinator, Jeni Perry; Interim Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, Marsha VanNahmen; Admissions Director, Susie Blizard; and IUPUC Student Ambassadors.
