“The purpose of IUPUC’s CommencementCeremony is to recognize the acquisition of knowledge and award degrees. It isa reward for all the late nights spent studying, writing research papers, andworking on class projects,” notes Vice Chancellor and Dean Marwan Wafa.

“But the word ‘commence’ also means to begin. These women and menare about to begin a new chapter in their lives, which for most of them willtake place right here in south central Indiana. They have an opportunity to usetheir knowledge, determination, and energy to make our communities betterplaces. We wish them every success,” Wafa added.
