Register for Spring IUPUC Classes to be Taught in Seymour

November 4, 2011

Representatives from Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) will be at the Jackson County Learning Center in Seymour from 4 to 6 p.m. on November 21 to register students who want to take IUPUC courses in Seymour this spring.

IUPUC will offer eight courses at the center that apply toward bachelor’s degrees in business, continuing studies, education, engineering, nursing, psychology, science, and other areas.

In addition, IUPUC admissions representatives can also advise students about combining one or more courses at the learning center with online courses. More than 90 different online courses will be offered during the spring semester, which begins January 9, 2012.

“Delivering courses in Seymour and offering an increasing number of online courses is just one example of how IUPUC is developing more flexible, efficient means for students to continue their education,” reports Dr. Marwan Wafa, vice chancellor and dean.

“A substantial number of our students are adults who balance work and family responsibilities with earning their degrees. We are continuously exploring the best delivery methods to help them earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees that will enable them to expand their career opportunities and employment options.”

Wafa notes IUPUC also offers dual credit and early college courses for high school students and a Passport Program for Ivy Tech graduates who want to apply their associate degrees toward a four-year degree from Indiana University or Purdue University.

Jackson County residents who are interested in registering for IUPUC courses on November 21 should bring copies of their high school and/or college transcripts, apply for admission, and register for courses on the spot.

Wafa says the $50 application fee for those who attend the event and enroll for courses will be waived.

Those who plan to attend are encouraged to RSVP to the Office of Admissions at IUPUC by calling 812.348.7390 or e-mailing admissions@iupuc.edu. For more information, visit www.iupuc.edu.
