IUPUC Seeks Nominations for 2011 Excellence in Diversity Award

Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) seeks nominations for its 2011 Excellence in Diversity Award.

Created to recognize and honor demonstrated commitment and outstanding efforts toward developing a diverse and inclusive community, recipients may be individuals, organizations, groups, units, projects, or institutions.

Candidates can self-nominate or be nominated using the designed nomination form posted at www.iupuc.edu/diversity. Completed nomination packages are due Dec. 12.

Nominations must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Engage in meaningful diversity activities beyond one’s responsibility in order to encourage excellence through inclusion in the community.
  • Display leadership in advancing diversity on campus and/or in the community.
  • Demonstrate efforts that foster a more inclusive and equitable learning and work environment.
  • Show evidence of inclusive teaching and/or program development beyond one’s responsibilities.
  • Conduct research and/or creative activity related to the experiences, realities, and/or contributions of persons from less-represented populations.
  • Provide leadership in programming, training, or other experiences which serve to advance diversity and inclusion.

Required nomination materials must include a written description of the work, activity, or project and at least three letters of support.

Recipients will be recognized during an awards ceremony on Monday, January 16, 2012 (Dr. Martin Luther King Day).
