MBA Information Session To Be Held on January 31

January 31, 2012

Area professionals who want to boost their career options are invited to an information session about the Indiana University Master of Business Administration  (MBA) program on Tuesday, January 31.

The informal, one-hour session, which begins at 5:30 p.m., will be held in Room CC 170 at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC). There is no cost to attend. Parking is free.

Attendees will meet Division of Business faculty and current MBA students. Faculty and staff will be on hand to answer questions and network with prospective students.

“There has not been a time in recent memory when upgrading one’s management credentials has been as important as it is in today’s competitive job market,” said Michael J. Oakes, MBA director and senior lecturer in finance. Oakes said the part-time, 24-month program is convenient for working adults because classes meet just two nights a week.

An undergraduate Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in any academic discipline is required for admission to the program, which begins in August. Cohorts are typically comprised of 25-30 students.

Students complete a two-week “boot camp” comprised of online lessons, evening and weekend workshops, and a proficiency exam prior to the start of classes. Course content is organized into six integrated, thematic modules. A unique a professional development thread (PDT) which provides personal development and coaching on individual presentation and communication skills is also included.

This year, an optional study abroad seminar in Turkey will be offered in May. “The trip will be a great tool for students to expand their global focus,” Oakes added.

The Division of Business at IUPUC is a candidate for professional accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Those who plan to attend the information session should contact Laura Lee Wetzel at 812.348.7288, e-mail iumbacol@iupuc.edu, or visit www.iupuc.edu/mba/infosession for more details. IUPUC is located at 4601 Central Avenue near Columbus Regional Airport.
