Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) will hold its annual commencement ceremony at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2012 in the Columbus North High School Gymnasium.

Dr. Sherman Franz will deliver the university’s 41th annual commencement address. Franz is a Columbus psychiatrist who served as chief medical officer at Columbus Regional Hospital. Since his retirement in 2002, Franz has helped connect volunteer doctors in specific specialty areas with hospitals in Australia, New Zealand, and other countries through an organization called Global Medical Staffing.

Degrees will be awarded to a total of 219 students from 37 communities throughout Indiana. The type and number of degrees the university expects to award are:

• Bachelor of Science in Business: 50
• Master of Business Administration: 26
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing: 50
• Bachelor of Arts in Psychology: 22
• Bachelor of Science in Psychology: 7
• Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts: 8
• Bachelor of General Studies: 23
• Bachelor of Science in Educatio: 29
• Teaching Certificate in Education: 4

Due to ongoing construction at Columbus North High School, please be advised of the following suggestions for parking and entering the building.

For those individuals traveling west on 25th Street, turn right onto Home Avenue and park in the second lot on the right.

Those traveling east on 25th Street will turn left onto Home Avenue and also park in the second lot on the right. Those who park in the Home Avenue lot should enter the building through the Bill Stearman entrance.

Parking for those with limited physical mobility will be off Maple Street. Take the second entrance to the school on the left and the parking area is to the immediate left. Enter the building through the doors nearest this parking lot.
