Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) has extended the due date for nominations for its 2012 Excellence in Diversity Award.

Created to recognize and honor demonstrated commitment and outstanding efforts toward developing a diverse and inclusive community, recipients may be individuals, organizations, groups, units, projects, or institutions.

Candidates can self-nominate or be nominated using the designed nomination form posted at www.iupuc.edu/diversity. Completed nomination packages are due Friday, December 14, 2012.

Nominations must meet at least one of the following criteria:

• Engage in meaningful diversity activities beyond one’s responsibility in order to encourage excellence through inclusion in the community.
• Display leadership in advancing diversity on campus and/or in the community.
• Demonstrate efforts that foster a more inclusive and equitable learning and work environment.
• Show evidence of inclusive teaching and/or program development beyond one’s responsibilities.
• Conduct research and/or creative activity related to the experiences, realities, and/or contributions of persons from less-represented populations.
• Provide leadership in programming, training, or other experiences which serve to advance diversity and inclusion.
