High School Juniors Invited to Visit Campus, Learn More About College Prep on March 8

January 16, 2013

High school juniors from Columbus and surrounding areas are invited to learn more about Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) on Friday, March 8
during a fun, free information session with a March Madness theme.

The fifth-annual event, called Just for Juniors, will focus on how to prepare for college. Sessions will include:

  • Slam-Dunk Your Way to Success with IUPUC’s Early College Program
  • Don’t Miss Your Shot at Money for College
  • It’s All About Teamwork: Student Life at IUPUC
  • Three-Pointers for Choosing a Major and a Career

“High school juniors have lots of choices when considering where to go to college. For those who are just beginning to think about what school is right for them, this event is a great opportunity to visit IUPUC’s campus, learn about our programs, and discover why IUPUC might be the perfect fit for their educational and career goals,” explained Susie Blizard, director of recruitment and admissions.

Blizard said IUPUC’s Early College Program, for example, is popular with many academically motivated high school students because it enables them to take dual-credit university courses. “Students can use the credits to graduate from college early, pursue a second major or minor, and have more time for internships or study abroad opportunities.” Information about financial aid, scholarships, and student clubs (including athletics) will also be discussed.

Interested high school students should contact their high school guidance counselors to inquire if bus transportation will be provided. Attendees are asked to RSVP by e-mailing admissions@iupuc.edu or calling 812.348.7390.
