Public Invited to Campus Career Fair on April 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Adults seeking employment opportunities in Columbus and surrounding communities are invited to a career fair in the Columbus Learning Center on Wednesday, April 3.

Sponsored by Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus, Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin, and the Purdue College of Technology Columbus, a number of local and regional employers will be in the Columbus Learning Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

According to Carol Kostrzewsky, associate director of career services at IUPUC, about 60 prospective employers will have representatives stationed at information tables throughout the lower level of the learning center.

“All of the employers have immediate openings they are interested in filling, unlike previous years when they may have only been networking to meet prospective employees to have on file for future openings,” Kostrzewsky reported.

“The fair provides students and alumni from each of the three schools an opportunity to connect with local employers. They can learn more about specific job requirements and determine how their skills, experience, and academic credentials meet the employer’s needs. It also shows the community how our three institutions deliver a variety of degree programs that are aligned with local opportunities,” explained Anji McKinney, lead coordinator of student services for the Purdue College of Technology Columbus.

Added Brenda Hotopp, director of career services for Ivy Tech, “This annual event is a great opportunity for students and individuals in the community to network with employers. Very seldom do job seekers have an opportunity to meet with so many employers in one location. We are appreciative of the employers that the time to attend the career fair and meet with students.”

The Columbus Learning Center is located at 4555 Central Avenue, Columbus, IN.  Parking is free and there is no cost to attend.
