Men's team to compete against Ivy Tech at 7 p.m. on Nov. 23

The Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) men’s basketball team will host its 2013-14 season opener with a home game on Saturday, Nov. 23 in a bout against Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin.

The contest marks team’s first game coached by Mel Good, the former head coach for the women’s basketball program at Columbus East High School for 13 years.

Good, who also coached men’s ball at Columbus East and has AAU coaching experience, led two of the women’s teams at East to the state’s final four competition.

IUPUC’s 2013-14 lineup includes:

  • Dylan Koors | 5′10″ guard | Freshman from Greensburg
  • Nicholas Landus | 5′10″ guard | Freshman from Columbus
  • Brandyn Phelps | 6′1″ guard | Freshman from Shelbyville
  • Jackson Renshaw | 6′4″ guard/forward | Sophomore from Columbus
  • Steven Shanafelt | 6′7″ center | Freshman from Nashville
  • Joey Smith | 6′ guard | Senior from Columbus
  • Drew Tucker | 6′3″  forward | Freshman from Saint Paul

The game between IUPUC and Ivy Tech Columbus begins at 7 p.m. It will be held at the Foundation For Youth (FFY), located at 405 Hope Avenue in Columbus.
