High school juniors invited for campus visit and information sessions on March 7

January 31, 2014

High school juniors are invited to learn more about Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) on Friday, March 7 during a fun, free information session with a “March Madness” basketball theme.

The annual event, called Just for Juniors, is designed to assist high school juniors who are exploring their college options with information and tips about applying for admission to IUPUC. Parents are also invited to attend.

Sessions will include:

  • Slam-Dunk Your Way to Success with IUPUC’s Early College Program
  • Don’t Miss Your Shot at Money for College
  • It’s All About Teamwork: Student Life at IUPUC
  • Three-Pointers for Choosing a Major and a Career

“High school juniors have many choices when considering where to go to college,” said Susie Blizard, director of recruitment and admissions at IUPUC. “For those who are exploring their options, we invite them to visit IUPUC for a campus tour and discover why our degree programs can be a great fit for their educational and career goals.”

Blizard said IUPUC’s Early College Program, for example, is popular with many academically motivated high school students because it enables them to take dual-credit university courses. “Students can use the credits to graduate from college early, pursue a second major or minor, and have more time for internships or study abroad opportunities.”

Information about financial aid, scholarships, and student clubs (including athletics like the men's basketball program) will also be discussed.

Interested high school students who need transportation can contact their high school guidance counselors to inquire if the school is providing bus transportation. Those who plan to drive themselves can park for free in designated visitor spaces around campus.

Attendees are asked to RSVP by e-mailing admissions@iupuc.edu or calling 812.348.7390.
