Register now for entrepreneur's boot camp on September 19

The Center for Business and Economic Development (CBED) at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus is hosting a one-day workshop for local and regional entrepreneurs who want to assess the feasibility of starting a business.

“This course will help participants identify the critical resources needed to start a business and how to refine their business plan,” said Greg Knudson, CBED director.

Designed for entrepreneurs who need a jump-start on designing, launching, and operating a new business venture, the course will include an overview of what is required for business success. Topics will include:

  • An overview of entrepreneurship and lessons learned from start-up companies
  • Developing a business plan
  • Building a foundation to launch a start-up, including banking, accounting, legal counsel, and patent law
  • Identifying your customers and sales strategies to keep them
  • Marketing, public relations, Web, and social media
  • Local, state, and federal resources for small business owners

Knudson said presenters will include both university faculty and local business leaders. “Columbus is fortunate to have a deep pool of individuals with real-world business knowledge and experience. Our presenters know what it takes to launch a small business and will focus the discussion on critical thinking, tools, and support entrepreneurs will need for success,” he noted.

The workshop begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. Lunch and program materials are included in the $75 cost. Register online at iupuc.edu/cbed.
