IMPLEMENTING AND MANAGING CHANGE
Friday, October 24, 2014 / 1 pm until 4 pm

In today’s turbulent business environment, change has become a way of life and, in order to be successful, managers must be able to manage change. Experts estimate that 50 to 70 percent of changes fail to deliver desired results. This course offers a set of guidelines and tools that will greatly increase a manager’s ability to effectively provide leadership and implement change.

The workshop primarily focuses on the role of the frontline manager as a leader and a change agent. The course introduces frameworks and techniques related to effective change management.

As with all workshops, the final activity includes individual (and team) action planning suitable for next day implementation. Upon completion of this hand’s on workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the business and personal case for improving change management skills
  • Understand the costs of mismanaging change
  • Describe the factors that differentiate successful change from unsuccessful change
  • Apply a model to plan and manage change
  • Identify the process that individuals go through when facing change
  • Use change management tools to analyze resistance, communicate effectively and hold others accountable
  • Identify opportunities for applying change concepts

Kevin McCracken (associate director of CBED) and Greg Knudson (director of CBED) will facilitate both workshops.

The cost for each workshop is $135. A group discount of 20 percent is applied when three or more individuals from the same organization register. Additionally, lunch is included in the price for individuals attending both workshops.

The workshops will be held in CC Room 170, located in the Arvin Center for Graduate Business Education at 4601 Central Avenue near the Columbus Municipal Airport.
