Two half-day Management Development Workshops will be held on Friday, Feb. 27

The Center for Business and Economic Development (CBED) at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) offers two noncredit management development workshops on Friday, Feb. 27.

Each of the 3-hour workshops are designed to benefit business executives, human resource specialists, front-line managers, and team leaders in a variety of workplace settings, including large manufacturing enterprises, small and mid-sized businesses, municipal government, and nonprofit organizations.

MANAGING CONFLICT FOR FRONTLINE RESULTS
Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 | 9 a.m. until noon

  • The Managing Conflict workshop introduces methods and models to effectively control the conflict that is often encountered in supervisory/management positions. Participants of the workshop are introduced to the proven tools and techniques of the EDGE model plan. The plan teaches management techniques:

o  that identify the main contributing factors in a conflict

o  that offer proven resolutions to confrontational situations

o  to gain greater collaborative cooperation

o  with proactive approaches to situations that strengthen workplace relationships

IMPLEMENTING AND MANAGING CHANGE
Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 | 1 to 4 p.m.

  • This hands-on workshop focuses on the primary role of managers to be agents for change. The course introduces frameworks and beginning techniques related to:

o  effective change management

o  identifying the process that individuals go through when facing change

o  uses change management tools to analyze resistance

o  effective communicate

o  how to hold others accountable

As with all workshops, the final activity includes individual action planning suitable for next day implementation.

The cost for each program is $150 and when you register for both workshops, lunch is included. Participants may register for the 11 remaining workshops, or select only those workshops that are most appropriate. When three or more individuals from the same organization register, or if an individual registers for three or more workshops, a 20 percent discount is available. Individuals that attend five or more workshops earn a “Management Development Certificate.”
