Joseph Heltzel, formerly associate director of admissions at Anderson University, has been named the director of the Office of Recruitment and Admissions at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC). His appointment took effect in September 2015.

As director, Heltzel is responsible for the recruitment and admission of new, returning, and transfer students at IUPUC. Additionally, he oversees all recruitment and admissions operations for all undergraduate students and serves as a member of a wide variety of university-wide committees.

With a career that spans more than 11 years of cumulative experience, Heltzel’s expertise not only includes recruitment and retention, but he has effectively coached others in professional development through various higher education support organizations.

Heltzel holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education studies and a master’s degree in business with a focus on leadership from Anderson University. More recently he has dedicated his career endeavors to a life-long commitment to higher education by pursuing his doctoral degree from Azusa Pacific University, focusing on higher education leadership.
