The Deadline for 2016 Excellence in Diversity Award Nominations is Monday, Nov. 16

Nominations for the 2015 Excellence in Diversity Award ends on Monday, Nov.16. Please submit your nomination on or before the deadline for an individual that has demonstrated a commitment and outstanding effort towards creating a diverse and inclusive community. Each year a person, group, or organization that demonstrates a commitment and outstanding effort towards creating a diverse and inclusive community will be publically recognized.

CRITERIA

Nominees must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Engage in meaningful diversity activities beyond one’s professional responsibilities
    to encourage excellence through inclusion in the IUPUC community.
  • Display leadership in advancing diversity on campus and/or in Columbus and the surrounding areas.
  • Demonstrate efforts that foster a more inclusive and equitable learning and work environment.
  • Show evidence of inclusive teaching and/or program development beyond one’s responsibilities.
  • Conduct research and/or creative activity related to the experiences, realities, and/or contributions of persons from diverse populations. 
  • Provide leadership in programming, training, or other experiences, which serve to advance diversity and inclusion at IUPUC.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Individuals or organizations may nominate or self-nominate by using the designated form found on the IUPUC website: www.iupuc.edu/about/administration-leadership/services-resources/diversity-council. Nominations are encouraged from individuals or groups of faculty, staff, students, or community members.

Nominations should be e-mailed to the Office of the Vice Chancellor and Dean vicechancellor@iupuc.edu on or before Monday, Nov. 16, 2015.
Please submit a detailed description of the initiative/efforts made that promotes diversity and inclusive within the community and its impact.

The Nominations Review Committee, consisting of five members, appointed by IUPUC’s vice chancellor and dean, will review nominations and make recommendations to the vice chancellor. Individuals or organizations will be selected, notified, and announced at a special recognition function on the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday.

RECOGNITION

The IUPUC Diversity Council hosts an awards ceremony where the recipient will be recognized and have an opportunity to address the audience to share a synopsis of their work. Furthermore, they will receive a commemorative plaque and be featured in a news release, which will be distributed to relevant media outlets.
