Scott Desmond teaching classes in sociology and criminal justice at IUPUC

Scott Desmond has been named new lecturer in sociology at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC). Desmond formerly was a visiting instructor in the Department of Criminal Justice at Indiana University—South Bend. His appointment with IUPUC took effect in September 2015.

As a lecturer, Desmond is responsible for teaching classes in both sociology and criminal justice at IUPUC. He was also recently appointed the new program coordinator for criminal justice at IUPUC. His scholarship, disseminated through more than 20 journal articles, focuses on the causes of juvenile delinquency and substance use, as well as the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Desmond received his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Washington in 2004. He has considerable teaching experience gained as a faculty member at Purdue University, IUPUI, Saginaw Valley State University, and IU South Bend.
