Allisha Beerwart appointed board member on the Indiana Governor’s Planning Council for People with Disabilities

Allisha Beerwart, clinical assistant professor of special needs education in the Division of Education at IUPUC, has been appointed board member on Indiana Governor’s Planning Council for People with Disabilities through 2018. As board member, she participated in the development of the five-year state plan.

Beerwart is a clinical assistant professor of special needs education in the Division of Education at IUPUC. Prior to joining IUPUC, she was a special education teacher in Indiana, as well as Virginia. She has over 10 years of experience working with children and adults with disabilities in various settings (i.e., educational and vocational). She has extensive experience with adapting classroom materials, differentiating instruction, and goal writing. She has attended various trainings to hone these skills. As a special education teacher, her area of interest included finding new ways and methods for adapting instructional practices for her students. She believes that learning is optimal for students with disabilities when they have the right materials and instructional accommodations.
