The Division of Education at IUPUC will host a nonpartisan discussion panel with Bob Pitman and Milo Smith, candidates for state representative District 59. While various issues will be addressed, education will be the primary focus.

The event is free and open to the public. The panel will be held on Thursday, Oct. 13 in the Columbus Learning Center Lecture Hall. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 7 p.m. The panelists and moderator will be acting in a non-partisan manner with an interest in learning about where the candidates stand on various issues and topics.

The discussion panel will last for 90 minutes. The agenda will be as follows:

  • Opening words and introductions of each candidate and of the panelists
  • Opening statements by each candidate
  • Panelist questions
  • “Community Round”
  • Closing statements
  • Brief closing statement thanking candidates and community for participating/attending

The “Community Round” will invite questions from the community via Twitter during the portion of the event when candidates are answering panelists’ questions. During the “Community Round,” the moderator will ask the community members’ questions in the order in which they were received until the time allocated to this portion of the event comes to an end.
