IUPUC offers free presentation on diversity and inclusion at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. event

January 10, 2017

High school students, parents, civic leaders, business executives, and residents are invited to join Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) students, faculty, and staff on Monday, Jan. 16 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Columbus Learning Center to honor the life and lasting legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

During the event, says Dr. Reinhold Hill, vice chancellor, and dean, the recipients of IUPUC’s 2017 Excellence in Diversity Award will be announced. “These awards recognize contributions through leadership on internal and external projects that positively impact the IUPUC campus and the Columbus community and surrounding region, respectively.”

“MLK Day provides an opportunity to reflect and re-energize in the struggle for civil and human rights throughout the United States and the world. We invite the community to join us in celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., and to recognize the winning individuals or groups who have actively contributed towards a positive difference in diversity and inclusion,” says Hill.

Dr. Sandra Miles, the dean of students and director of student affairs, at IUPUC, is a public advocate for diversity. On behalf of IUPUC, she adds, “We look forward to the opportunity hear from students who are currently living Dr. King’s dream and share in this great day with the residents of Columbus who attend and support this event each year.”
