On Wednesday, Oct. 4, through the end of the day on Thursday, October 5, student members of the Feminism Club at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) created a visual display on the lawn of IUPUC.

A simple clothesline with white t-shirts served as a symbolic memorialization of the lives lost to domestic violence in Indiana in 2016-2017. “We hope the Clothesline Project will raise awareness and encourage us all to educate ourselves about domestic violence as a serious problem that needs to be addressed in our communities, locally and statewide,” shared Dr. Julie Goodspeed-Chadwick.

Additionally, IUPUC served as host on Thursday afternoon to Sarah Flores, Bartholomew County Preventionist at Turning Point Domestic Violence Services, who delivered remarks at the Clothesline Project display.

Officers of Feminism Club, include Courtney Watkins (President); Clayton Ham (Vice President); Brandi Rund (Secretary); and Emily Pedigo (Treasurer).
