Thanks to generous funding support from Rick and Alice Johnson, IUPUC is proud to announce the new IUPUC Speaker Series. This series will deliver unique educational experiences to the community through performances and presentations and will foster thought-provoking conversations, led by subject-matter experts, during speaker panels and discussion forums.

The IUPUC Speaker Series will kick off with Midwestern Tales: Folksongs and Folklore, on November 17, 2017, (6:30 to 7:30 pm) at the Columbus (IN) Learning Center Lecture Hall. Inspired by little-known facts rather than documented history, come celebrate Indiana’s sometimes scandalous past through tales and songs. Interspersed with music, history, fact, and comedy, Midwestern Tales: Folksongs and Folklore, will lead you on an unforgettable journey, a journey filled with suspense, honor, murder, and timeless topics relevant in today’s world. This event is sure to entertain.

Midwestern Tales: Folksongs and Folklore will feature folk songs performed by actors and singer-songwriters Tim Grimm and Jan Lucas-Grimm, and professional storytelling and interpretation by Dr. Reinhold Hill, IUPUC’s very own Vice Chancellor and Dean and a folklorist.

Rick and Alice Johnson stated, “We are pleased to support the IUPUC Speaker Series to bring unique and interesting academic content into public discussion. IUPUC is an education leader in the region and is perfectly positioned to offer opportunities for the community to engage in stimulating and relevant conversations.”

The event is free to the public. However, tickets are required as seating is limited. Go to www.iupuc.edu/speaker-series for more information and to register for an event ticket.
