IUPUC to Host Indiana State Board of Education Monthly Meeting on Oct. 3rd

Columbus, IN (Oct. 1, 2018) – IUPUC will host the Indiana State Board of Education October meeting on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. The meeting will be held in the Columbus Learning Center Lecture Hall (LC 1000) located at 4555 Central Avenue, Columbus, Indiana, beginning at 9:30 am. The meeting is open to the public.

Dr. Reinhold Hill, IUPUC Vice Chancellor and Dean, had this to say, “We are pleased to host the board on our campus and invite constituents in the IUPUC service region to take advantage of this opportunity to witness how this important governing body works to improve education across Indiana.”

Established by the Indiana General Assembly, the State Board of Education oversees K-12 education policymaking in the State of Indiana and authorizes the distribution of state education funds to local schools. The bipartisan board is composed of eleven members and includes the Superintendent of Public Instruction, Dr. Jennifer McCormick. Dr. McCormick stated, “We appreciate that IUPUC is willing to host our October board meeting in Columbus. Holding board meetings at various locations around the state gives Indiana citizens access to the board and increased awareness of issues facing public education in the state.”
