Maria Hamilton Abegunde, Ph.D., will lead a dialogue on the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in faculty work on February 5, from 12:30 - 2 p.m. She is the Founding Director of IU Bloomington’s Graduate Mentoring Center.  The conversation seeks to help faculty gain a shared understanding of DEI, relate DEI to their work, and envision additional ways to embrace DEI in teaching, service, and research.

In addition to her leadership in mentoring initiatives, Abegunde is an award-winning poet who has authored three chapbooks including Wishful Thinking, about the 2001 disappearance of Tionda and Diamond Bradley in Chicago. She is a Visiting Lecturer in African American and African Diaspora Studies and Affiliate Faculty in Gender Studies at IUB.

This event is presented by the IUPUC Faculty Mentoring Program.
