The Division of Health Sciences at IUPUC announced today that its Simulation Center received reaccreditation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), making it one of only 100 labs worldwide to be fully accredited by SSH.

“The Simulation Center at IUPUC helps our students become critical and innovative thinkers, as well as develop the clinical skills, judgement, and empathy necessary to prepare them for situations encountered in their daily work,” said Paige McDaniel, Health Sciences Interim Division Head and Clinical Assistant Professor.

The Simulation Center features a skills lab with eight patient care rooms, a clinical exam room, two simulation rooms divided by a control room with mirrored windows for viewing, realistic adult and pediatric manikins and more.

SSH accreditation is a peer-reviewed, customized evaluation of healthcare simulation programs. It examines a program's processes and outcomes in assessment, research, teaching/education, and systems integration.

“This reaccreditation from SSH reflects the dedication of IUPUC’s faculty and leadership team in the pursuit of educational excellence in nursing,” McDaniel said.

IUPUC’s accreditation is effective through December 31, 2027, in the area of Teaching/Education.
