On February 15, 2023, IUPUC is co-hosting an event at the IUPUI Campus Center in Indianapolis, “Online Exploitation and Youth Safety: A Community Discussion,” highlighting how to prevent online exploitation, current community trends and survivor resources.

Speakers include:

  • Karen Maher, Director of Anti-Trafficking Initiatives, Indiana Coalition to End Sexual Assault & Human Trafficking
  • Darcy Wade, Director of What Would I Do, Indiana Protection of Abused and Trafficked Humans Taskforce (IPATH) Youth Working Group Co-Chair
  • Jeremey Greenlee, IPATH Anti-Demand Working Group
  • Yvonne Moore and Ethan Boring, Department of Child Services

“According to the DHS, FBI and NCMEC, child exploitation, sextortion, and the distribution of child sexual abuse materials has become a public health crisis. With more children online now more than ever, the risks have skyrocketed,” said Darcy Wade, one of the event speakers. “The IPATH Taskforce is hosting a critical and urgent conversation about how to prevent online exploitation, trends in our community, and resources that are available to survivors.”

All are welcome to attend this free event, especially parents/caregivers, youth workers, educators, and legislators.

It will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the IUPUI Campus Center, Room 450, at 420 University Blvd. in Indianapolis. There is a fee to park in the IUPUI parking garage.
