Community members, especially high school students and their families, have several opportunities to learn about IUPUC’s admissions process, degrees and programs, scholarship opportunities, and tour the campus though a series of events in the coming months.

“Students who choose IUPUC get individual attention and small class sizes, with an affordable path to a college degree,” said Jayne Morris, Assistant Director of Enrollment Management. “We offer 12 full university degrees on our campus, as well as options to earn a master’s degree, and another 16 degrees that can be started at IUPUC before transferring to another IU campus.”

The Admissions Office is hosting a scavenger hunt in March, several upcoming visit days, and an event geared specifically for high school juniors in April.

“We encourage residents of Bartholomew County and surrounding areas to learn more about what we offer: a local, affordable, individualized path to earning an IU or Purdue degree,” Morris added.

Scavenger hunt

“Brand new this year, we’re inviting all area high schoolers to a campus-wide scavenger hunt,” said Sandy Almendares Monge, IUPUC Admissions Counselor. “We purposely scheduled it to coincide with BCSC’s spring break, so students don’t have to worry about missing school.”

The hunt starts at 10 a.m. on March 15 with a presentation and campus tour. Then students are divided into groups to answer clues, and discover departments and services frequented by IUPUC students.

Visit days

Visit days begin with a presentation about available IUPUC degrees, programs, scholarships and early college classes available to high school juniors and seniors. Then there’s a campus tour. Afterward, participants have a chance to talk directly to the heads of each department and ask questions in an open-table format.

Upcoming visit days are:

  • February 20 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • March 10 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Spanish-language open house

On February 26, 3 p.m., there’s an event, “Ven Y Conoce,” for Latinx families to get to know more about higher education and post-high school opportunities in Columbus. All presentations and materials for this event are in Spanish. As part of an open house for the entire airpark campus, this event is run in partnership with Tu Futuro, IUPUC, Ivy tech, and Purdue Polytechnic.

Journey for Juniors

“Journey for Juniors” will be held on April 13, from 9 a.m. to noon. This event provides high school juniors with hands-on help for applying and getting ready for college. Breakout sessions address college planning, financial matters, coping with stress, time management, athletics, and more.

More to come

In addition to these scheduled events, there will be a summer fair at IUPUC, an event for students who are already admitted, and another specifically for those interested in becoming Education majors.

Each of these events is free and open to high schoolers and their families. Find more details and registration forms at admissions.iupuc.edu. To register for the Spanish-language open house, contact Mariana at (812) 447-5544 or Nadia (812) 525-9006.

Prospective students are also welcome to set up a one-on-one meeting with an IUPUC admissions counselor at (812)348-7390 or admissions@iupuc.edu.
