Approximately 50 companies, including Cummins and Toyota Manufacturing, will be onsite April 13 for the Airpark Campus Career Fair. If you’re planning to attend, now is the time to update your resume so you can share it with potential employers at the big event.

Amy Kleinert, IUPUC Associate Director of Career Services, can help students and alumni who’d like to polish up their resumes. Set up a one-on-one meeting by emailing her at akleiner@iu.edu.

In addition to resume assistance, Kleinert can provide guidance on professional branding, help students develop an “elevator speech” about their skills and background, and share networking tips.

“Even for students who aren’t actively seeking employment, I still recommend coming to the Career Fair to network and see what opportunities are out there,” she said.

The first hour of the fair (1:30 to 2:30 p.m.) is just for AirPark campus students; it’s open to the public 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

For students unable to attend the Career Fair but looking for employment, Kleinert suggests the Handshake site for instant access to job openings. All students get free access to Handshake, and Career Services can help with account activation and building a Handshake profile.

Kleinert also posts every campus hiring event to the online events calendar, which includes the upcoming visit on March 29 with Columbus Behavioral Center and Assisted Independence.

“We have a lot of regional employers who want to hire our students, it’s a very exciting time,” she added.

In addition to job search assistance, Career Services provides students with assistance throughout their academic life, including helping identify or change majors, explore potential occupations, practice interviewing, and create a LinkedIn profile.
