IUPUC is helping area teachers and students finish the school year strong by donating pencils to area classrooms. The IUPUC Staff Council "Staying Sharp Pencil Campaign" donated 300 boxes of pre-sharpened pencils (3,600 pencils) on April 21.

“We know that teachers are running low on school supplies this time of year,” said Jayne Morris, IUPUC Staff Council Community Outreach chair. “Further, we know the majority of educators spend their own money on classroom supplies. We’re hoping to ease that burden just a little.”

Each BCSC elementary classroom will receive a box of 12 sharpened pencils and a Crimson Pride flag.

Friday morning, Morris delivered the pencils to Nicole Cunningham, Executive Director of the Bartholomew Consolidated School Foundation, who plans to distribute them throughout the school district.
